Another trip to the ER!

William in the room where he broke his arm at school

William with his arm all wrapped up so it doesn't get wet!

William's first night with a broken arm before he got his "real" cast!

Last Friday morning, William (our accident-prone child) broke his arm at school. His class was in the "playspace," an indoor play area with Little Tikes slides and stuff. He says he was climbing, but no one really saw him fall. Randy was called first since he was at work (William goes to our church's preschool). Then, Randy called me on the way to the emergency room with William. Thankfully, we have wonderful friends, the Pearsons, who live down the street and I quickly dropped Joshua off and headed to the ER. William was pretty upset once in the ER with all the doctors and nurses messing with him. But, once the medicine kicked in, he finally calmed down. Thanks to our pastor and preschool director who stayed with us through all of this! The x-rays showed that he broke the two main bones in his left arm above his wrist. They put him in a splint for a few days in case of swelling, and then on Tuesday he got a hard cast... all the way up to his shoulder! He has been an absolute trooper this past week and has tried to do all he can with just one arm, even ride his bike! The only frustration has been that he can't suck his fingers when he sleeps at night and at naps. This has made it more difficult for him to go to sleep and hence, more frustrating for mommy and daddy! Needless to say, it has been a crazy week for us all. Please join us in praying that his arm heals quickly, that he can go to sleep peacefully, and that the accident cycle will end! (Most of you know that William knocked his front tooth out at age 1, had stiches in his forehead at age 2 1/2, and now has broken his arm at age 4!) William will have more x-rays next Thursday, and if he gets a new cast, he's hoping for green and we will post more pictures then!

Well, you are finally inducted into the ER club. That is what happens with boys! I am so grateful we finally have a walk in conic with an X-ray machine. We have made three trips in the last 12 months! ha
